Welcome

You’ve wandered onto Media Mischief, a location for a slightly different view of all things pop culture.  Here, we’ll delve into the usual subjects -- film, television, music and books -- and maybe some not so usual -- commercials, cartoons, comic books, theatre and the internet -- but in a way hopefully unlike any other on the web.

There are several things you won’t find at Media Mischief.

You won’t find celebrity gossip.  Aren’t there enough .coms that do that?  What fun is there in trying to do another?  So, if you need to know what famous someone lost it in public, coveted  (in the you-know-what sense) another famous someone, beat up a significant other or suffered the latest wardrobe malfunction --- TMZ you later.  Me?  I’ll hear about it when it’s the lead story on my local evening news.

You also won’t find industry news here.  Judging by what appears in my Inbox each morning, there are more than enough places ramming that stuff down our throats.  Now, I won’t shy away from a good piece of news if it comes this way.  But when Variety and The Hollywood Reporter rush out a “Breaking News” email to tell me something that is far from urgent,  it’s obvious that this need is more than covered.  It’s just not worth going there.

So, just what is going to go on here?

Well, the main goal is to have fun.  We’ll celebrate those things entertaining enough to shine a light on, and poke sticks at the ones that maybe shouldn’t have been made in the first place.  There will be new approaches to popular pop culture subjects and attempts to look at things in a different way than they’ve been looked at in the past.  There will be games and puzzles, special bits of mischievousness, a few surprises, and maybe even an occasional entry that might make you say, “I did not know that.”  Everyone’s invited to join in.  Don’t be shy.  Throw something unique and wonderful into the mix.  Now, without further ado (because if there’s one thing there’s too much of in the world today, it’s ado), let’s make a little mischief.
