Thankless Emmy Awards

Hey, did you hear?  The Primetime Emmy Awards are this Sunday.  Yes, it’s time for another evening of glitz, glamour and awkward exchanges by celebrity presenters, featuring an award that looks like it could do serious harm if you ever hit someone with it.  The brainchild of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Emmy Awards have celebrated the best television has to offer for 62 years.

Or have they?

Sure, the Emmys honor everyone you’d expect at a Hollywood event of these sorts.  There are trophies for the actors, directors, writers and producers.  Creative Arts Emmys go to behind-the-scenes craftspeople - though at a separate ceremony usually held the weekend prior.

But there are just some honors that do not fit into the typical categories of this fete -- unusual distinctions that truly capture the unique nature of television.  Aren’t these deserving of recognition?

I think so.  And therefore, Media Mischief proudly presents “The Television Awards You Won’t Be Seeing At the Emmys.”
